

Honest Fordyce Manville newly elected Governor of New York refuses to appoint a man chosen by party leader Boss Tally to a prominent position having authority over a large amount of state funds. Tally threatens revenge and persuades his son Archie to break his engagement to Manville's daughter Ruth. Tally and his gang work out a plan to frame the governor but a clerk in Tally's office, who is Ruth's friend, informs her of the plot. Ruth and her friend manage to record the boss and his aides conspiring. Tally rushes the trial causing Ruth to arrive too late to stop the governor from being impeached on the first ballot, but justice wins out in the end.

Swindled out of her small property by crooked money lender Bogrum, Betty Lawrence turns to large estate owner and old friend Jim Carrington. On a tip supplied by Bolter, Bogrum's secretary, Jim investigates and after Bogrum's crooked dealings are exposed, and he is imprisoned, Betty and Carrington join their property through matrimony.

Perryam is going through a round of bad luck; he is thrown out of school and loses at love. In search of a change, he heads for London, where he meets Audrey Nye, a former jazz baby who has gotten a responsible job on a newspaper. She helps Perryam get hired as a reporter.

Unable to reveal her role in espionage, Olympe is ostracized by her friends and family. When the French government honors Olympe for her wartime bravery, her family no longer considers her a blemish on their sterling reputation.
