Beggars and Noblemen

A prominent reverend balances his duty to the church with family woes as his 21-year-old daughter tries to put her life back together.

Jazmín, a young woman living in Mexico City, is nonplussed when she receives a call informing her that her father Toussaint, an illegal Haitian immigrant, is ill. She hasn't seen him in years, and does not know why they are calling her. When she finally gets to the hospital and discovers that her father is suffering from vascular dementia, she finds herself faced with the task of caring for a man who is more a stranger than a father to her.

Jakob Hansen is a very engaged trainee teacher, who faces his final practical exam for becoming a teacher. Some girls are crushing on him, which brings the soon-to-be teacher into trouble. Two students vent their frustration on him and thus put the ideals of the educator to the test. On the day of the exam, the showdown happens.
