Yamaneko is notoriously elusive, but wherever he shows up, enormous amounts of money gets stolen. Evidence of the audacious crime is left scattered all over the place. The evil warlord Gengetsu Kibaoni was defeated 444 years ago by the Last Ninja, the head of the Igasaki Family. To a grim reaper, persuading people attempting to commit suicide and preventing unforeseen deaths is also an important task. But because #413 is new to this grim reaper work, he has a tendency to lean towards humans in his judgments, break the rules of the nether world and get reprimanded by his superior.

Yukiko Makabe works at the #3 Special Investigation Team of the Metropolitan Police Department. She has excellent negotiation skills. Yukiko then attempts to negotiate with a hijacker on a bus, but something unexpected happens and her mission fails. Yukiko takes full responsibility and takes a transfer to a special interrogation team "Kintori". Her boss is Katsutoshi Kajiyama and Yukiko has had a difficult working relationship with him in the past. Her other coworkers include Susumu Hishimoto, Zenjiro Nakata and Haruo Koishikawa.

Satoshi Itomura is an assistant police investigator who belongs to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Scientific Investigation Team. Reenactments, fingerprint and voice data collections, profiling... His team collects scientific evidence and pieces together fragments of information in order to help build evidences. However, Itomura often does not care about the scientific approach and instead pays a great deal of attention to the things that the victims always carried with them or treasured. And he focuses on these things because they usually carry the victim’s dying wishes, understanding that last message not only helps solve the cases but also brings closure to the depressed family of victims.

"Yukemuri Sniper" ("The Sniper in the Vapor") stars Kenichi Endo as an assassin who has decided to leave the business and try to go straight. Gen figures the best way to escape his violent past is to retire somewhere that is remote and quiet, so he takes a job as a lowly attendant at a mountain hot-springs resort called Tsubaki-ya. He strikes up a friendship with one of his colleagues, a housekeeper named Suzuyo (Shoko Ikezu). One day, Suzuyo's ex-husband, Tagawa (Kohei Mashiba), comes to the inn and roughs her up. Gen learns that Tagawa is a gangster and that he shows up at the inn every so often to take the money that Suzuyo has earned. Gen feels sorry for Suzuyo and calls Tagawa to try and reason with him.

Continuation of the popular series of films about the assassins in Edo. This show marks the return of the jidaigeki series "Hissatsu Shigotonin," which has had several seasons between the 1970s and the 1990s. The franchise came back in 2007 with a one-shot special, but this is its first full season since 1992. Makoto Fujita returns as the protagonist Nakamura Mondo, one of the "shigotonin," a team of hired assassins.
