A Japanese girl from a poor family named Hanako went on an adventure to study in a girl's Christian school in Tokyo. She found her passion in English and step by step made her dream come true.

Centered around typical Japanese food, a solitary salesman travelling through the country for business purposes, eats at its various establishments and experiences the various delicacies of Japanese cuisine.

Kazutoyo lived during the end of the Sengoku period (1546-1605). He was the first feudal lord of the fief of Tosa on the island of Shikoku. He served Nobunaga Oda, Hideyoshi Toyotomi and Tokugawa Ieyasu. Chiyo (1557-1617) was his wife, and was known in history for her dedication and devotion to her husband (like Matsu was to Toshiie in Toshiie to Matsu). She is the daughter of a samurai who served the feudal lord Asai.

A story of Sato Hachiro, poet in the Showa period who is known for his lyric poems and songs for children. Despite the delicate and sensitive style of his works, he and his family spent a life full of ups and downs. Based on a novel by his half-sister Sato Aiko, the drama describes the thrilling life of the poet who played an important role in the popular culture of the Showa era by focusing on his love and hate relationship with his family.
