The background of the story is Hong Kong and Macau in the 1930s and 1940s. The characters in the play include: the quackery who is eager for quick success and quick gains, and takes risks; greedy for vanity and unwilling to eat the poor; the shameless and ambitious but unwilling to endure hardship; the poor boy who works hard, hardworking and thrifty; the result is all Those who pursued the golden dream fell down on the path of fate, and only the poor boy who had endured hardships and struggled step by step could stand tall and enjoy the fruits of countless blood and sweat.

Police Cadet '84 was a TV series which included such stars in TVB as Tony Leung, Maggie Cheung, and notably, Carina Lau. The story centered on a couple of young "cadets" in the Police Cadet School. Tragedy, romance, conflicts, and intrigues were featured. The series was immediately followed by a sequels titled "New Police Cadet '85" and "New Police Cadet '88". Both sequels stars Tony Leung.

The Super Power is a TVB television series, premiered in Hong Kong in 1983.

Orphan Ma Tianyou was raised by nuns in a Macau monastery, and grew up with Sister Connie, who knows the truth about his parents but kept it secret. At 19, Tianyou goes to HK to find his birth parents and ends up living with retired Dr. Fung. He meets the Wong family and falls in love with Ah Heung, but their relationship is complicated by their sibling-like bond. Back in Macau, Sister Connie reveals the painful truth that Tianyou's father is Fung's son, Fung Yue-lai, who had a complicated past with her and her friend who died giving birth to Tianyou. After struggling to accept his philandering father, Tianyou gradually reconciles with him.

Sergeant Xu Dahu broke several major cases, but his independent style led to conflicts with his supervisor, Li Pengfei, and he was transferred. Dahu resigned in frustration but was encouraged by his girlfriend, Ho Yuk-kam, to start a private detective agency. While taking the police officer's exam, Ho Zi-wai became friends with Li Chang-zi, who was frequently praised and promoted. Zi-wai felt unfairly treated and eventually left his job to join Dahu's detective agency. While investigating a kidnapping case, they discovered more secrets and illegal activities involving Pengfei. They used a citizen's arrest empowered under Article 101 of the Criminal Procedure Ordinance to bring the culprit to justice.

St. Lawrence College, an all-girls school, breaks tradition by admitting three male students, including Wen Shu-sen. They become classmates with Wong Yuk-chu and Tong Ka-tai, initially experiencing teasing but eventually fitting in. The young people enjoy spending time together, playing pranks on their teachers and principal for fun, but a small incident tests their friendships and romances.

Detectives Chung and Li suspect their superior, Siu To, of colluding with triads. Li discovers that his girlfriend was assaulted by a john associated with Siu To and seeks revenge. Later, when Siu To is implicated in a rape case, their subordinate, Ma, obtains evidence but is murdered, and witnesses are intimidated to leave the city. Chung is committed to making a big prosecution in the name of justice.
