Polish Television carried out a digital reconstruction of century-old, previously unpublished archival films, including those from Soviet Union, France, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, Hungary and the USA.

The film was born out of observations of the social situation in the vicinity of the decommissioned Debiensko mine. It tells the story of one day in the lives of three "restructured" miners and the security guards protecting the post-mining remnants. The three former miners, who have to take care of their families, planned to steal a useless electric cable. While cutting a section of the cable, they are caught by security guards. During the chase, one of the former miners is beaten and loses his bicycle. The miners decide to take revenge on the security guards. As a result of the revenge, the security guards lose their company car and are consequently fired from their jobs. They join the miners' "company," adding to the ranks of the unemployed.

Frank (Nazi Secretary of State and Chief of police in the Protectorate of Bohemia a Moravia) discusses with his commanders how to transform the city into an impregnable fortress, but the Praguers do not intend to wait any longer. From the early hours of 4th of May people start assembling in the streets and tearing down German signs. On the next day, the 5th of May, the uprising begins.

Freed Polish soldiers are trapped in a small town in Germany during the last days of World War II. After a doctor's daughter is raped by a concentration camp worker, the Poles allow her and her father to stay in the house that is their temporary quarters. While waiting to be repatriated, the war-weary group is forced to fight some German soldiers who invade the town. The war brings out conflicting emotions of the Poles who find themselves trapped in the house and once again under fire from the enemy.

After watching a concert by a fledgling rock band, renowned songwriter Marczak decides to promote only its vocalist, Sylwia. The girl decides to leave her bandmates, including her boyfriend, Janek.
