One evening Alisi (17) climbs a huge tree and won't come down. As evening turns to night, her sanctuary becomes her prison - and her secret is out. Alisi is pregnant to her gay best friend, Mikaele (17), and it's all over Facebook. Mikaele finds Alisi, who blames him for being a blabbermouth, bringing shame to her Christian Pasifika family. Alisi tries to run away, but a search party of younger cousins turns up and texts her oldest brother Terence. Soon her whole familiy is camping out under the tree. As the stars turn and the night gets colder, Alisi must decide whether she will bow to cultural family traditions or find a new path - with or without her family.

In 2013, Daniel Kitson wrote a play for two people (himself and (the mighty) Tim Key) to perform for a week or two at the (also mighty) Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. In 2015 that play was restaged at the (again, mighty) Old Vic in London for something like 28 performances, in total. This is one of those performances, in real time, start to finish.

A small tree filmed on Hampstead Heath is printed out and re-edited at the Film Coop to form a formal abstract sequence bracketed by juddering naturalism. As with other films, the imagery is used away from its context as representation, as the source for an edited construction

The camera was placed on the flexible branch of a tree in a strong wind. The composition included both stationary and moving trees (a wooded landscape). The relationship of this landscape to the vertical and horizontal plane was maintained as much as possible. The camera ran continuously until all the film was exposed. The world is seen from the point of view of a tree as its branches sway to the rhythm of the wind.
