A circus is traveling across the country, Circus Pipo to be precise. When Pipo, Plom, and Klukkluk perform, a big scary man takes a keen interest in Plom and especially her ventriloquist dummy. When the dummy is stolen, the trail leads to the harbor. It turns out that the big scary man has kidnapped the puppet. Pipo, Plom, and Klukkluk follow the man onto the ship and get locked up in the hold. When they are released, they are captured by the crew, who turn out to be pirates. How did Pipo end up here again? Lubbeduh, the pirate captain, stole the puppet because it resembles his lost son, Takko. Lubbeduh takes our friends to his island, the Island of Yesteryear.

Horst, a young boy from Berlin, spends his holidays with the "Pirates" at Horse Island. The teen gang is led by Horst′s friend Benno. Soon, Horst realizes that the pirates create a lot of nuisance. Gudrun, whom Horst meets on his way to the village, tells him that she has been attacked and injured by the pirates when she tried to observe a rare cormorant. Gudrun and Horst become friends. “KulturBahnhof” – this title has been carried by Kassel Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) since 1995. Over the years, it has become home to many cultural workers and creatives. Galleries, studios, rehearsal rooms, music clubs, an arthouse cinema, and the Offene Kanal (Public Access TV) are all located here. Between abandoned train tracks and old industrial buildings, important venues of the city’s cultural life emerged. However, by the end of 2023, many of these alternative and subversive institutions were forced to close. Deutsche Bahn increased rents and sent out eviction notices, citing plans to build a new operations center. To make a statement against this development, a group from Piraten Kanal Kassel organized a performative takeover of the station on New Year’s Eve. The film shows live performances that took place in the station hall, at Franz Ulrich, and in Stellwerk, combining them with small portraits and clips about the now vanished creative spaces.
