The protagonist of "Passerby" is writer and filmmaker Tadeusz Konwicki. His story, which reflects the paradoxes of the 20th century history, is commented by means of fragments of his films, documentary newsreels and stage productions.

A young man collects bottles from people's garbage and he is trying to find a way out of that situation. A middle-aged waitress will try to help him.

On a summer day, the paths of two boys unexpectedly cross.

After finishing eight grades at a school in Ashgabat, Bayram Ovezov, against his mother’s wishes, decides to return to the mining town of Gaurdak, where his grandfather lives and where his father once worked. Bayram enrolls in a vocational school to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a miner.

A talented extra - maybe one of the most talented in the history of cinema - regrets the destruction of his job by the inevitable development of digital crowds.

The Passerby is locked up and will free herself. And by following someone very different to herself, she will set out to discover something improbable that will shape her.

Songs for a Passerby is a meditative quest that allows you to step outside reality for a moment and look at yourself. As a puppeteer of your own body you will be entering a poetic space where the melancholy question arises: is this me passing by moments, or is it rather the moments passing by me?

A random passer-by is invited to a bachelor party of rich men where he tells a tale of loss to those present.

In The Passerby, poems, home movies, interviews, photographs, and footage filmed all over the world combine to form a kind of necromancy: impression, imprint, appearance of many lives that were not lived without a trace. What can be read out of pictures and movement, facial expressions and gestures? Donald McWilliams' compelling contrast montage, visual effects, and use of music provide a meditation on the mysteries of existence.

One talented movie extra – perhaps one of the most talented in the history of cinema – regrets the destruction of his profession by the unfaltering development of synthetic crowds.

Composed from the conversations that the director holds with people passing by in the street under his Warsaw apartment, each story in 'The Balcony Movie' is unique and deals with the way we try to cope with life as individuals. All together, they create a self-portrait of contemporary human life, and the passers-by present a composite picture of today's world.
