Mirrors features a series of mirrors clipped from the movies of Ingmar Bergman. A mise-en-abyme, a reflection on reflections, in other words, an endless looking, or relooking. The mirror (phase) offers a time without end, a glassy eye that throws back the world as an endless picture. It invites its subject to become a picture as well. The mirror is already part of a loop, a cycle of seeing and seen. Though of course the mirror is the hidden watcher, it watches its watchers, endlessly. As Derrida says: The force of the image has to do less with the fact that one sees something in it than with the fact that one is seen... The image sees more than it is seen.

An aspiring Midwestern ballerina (Marguerite Hickey) struggles in New York as the only jobs she can get are as chorus performers. Her personal life is equally dismal.

Mirrors follows the inner journey of Lucien Hale, a detective haunted by an unsolved murder case, one that remains unresolved, at least in his conscience. Years after the system closed the file and the world moved on, Lucien uncovers a new clue that pulls him into a series of conversations with someone believed to be connected to the crime. When a man named John Corwin is brought in for interrogation, Lucien is convinced he's finally closing in on the truth. But their exchange is far from ordinary. Fragmented memories, hazy flashbacks, and cryptic, blood-stained messages begin to collide with Lucien's own beliefs, blurring the line between the truth he seeks and the reality he fears.

This film is about what the routine of everyday life can do to the human mind and psyche. It also reflects on the importance of the choices we make and how limited these choices are in the first place. The plot evolves around a family of four. They live in the suburbs, in a strange villa that appears, through a complex game of mirrors, to be more like a piece of installation art than a real house. The main character, who hardly appears on screen, is the son, a man in his thirties. Suffering from asthma and eczema since childhood, he uses his condition to manipulate his parents and his sister. Thus the existence of the terrorized family turns into an endless ritual of attempting to satisfy his whims, and always on the alert for yet another one of his “health crises”. Las Meninas resembles the scattered pieces of a puzzle. It is up to the viewer to assemble them in order to form his very own picture – something that makes the film itself personal and unique.
