It is a coming-of-age story about the exuberance of youth, the sweetness of life, the sting of death and the modesty and sheer goodness that lives in each and every one of us.

This visual poem is the continuation of a piece performed live at the Civil Disobedience queer festival, 2020, in Athens. The theme of the year was borders, nationalism, identities, tourism and immigration. The ‘Becoming Ithaca’ performance was comprised of three parts. The islander who dresses up in national costume to attract tourists. The soldier defending his island from immigrants. And finally, the man stripped down to his humanity, who inspired the poem.
