The film depicts the reality of Joseon at the time through the conflict between the old and the new generation and the ethics between father and son. Park No-in (Yoon Bong-chun) is a boatman who believes in his profession. He intends to pass the ferry he inherited from his ancestors to his son (Lee Geum-ryong). But he doesn't want to be a boatman. When his father's compulsion grows stronger, one night he goes out alone to the riverside, caresses the oar stained by his father's hands, and then abruptly leaves.

Catholic priest, Myeong-jun, climbs up one of the bridges crossing the Han River to commit suicide after learning that a woman who loved him in the past, has killed herself. Then Jang-hyo, a homeless person, tells the man on the bridge that he bet with other homeless people that the suicide attempt will fail. Myeong-jun jumps into the river anyway. But Jang-hyo rescues the suicidal priest and lets him join the homeless community. Chu-ja, a transgender homeless person, is on bad terms with his daughter. When he hesitates about attending his daughter’s wedding, the two men visit the daughter and ask her to forgive her father. Another homeless person, Maria goes to a soup kitchen at a Catholic church, where she sees the beautiful nun Angela. Maria, who was pregnant at the time, gives birth to a baby later and decides to remain at the church to be a sister. Despite their own painful history, each of these four people finds a way to reconcile with the past.

Pei Duobao receives a mysterious letter from his hometown and returns to Hanjiang Village with his daughter. The letter-writer unexpectedly drowns in the river and Pei Duobao's dead wife's grave is dug up by a demonic formation. Rumours spread that there is a sexy female ghost in the form of a fish monster that eats people's hearts and hooks their souls. One after another, people begin to die in the village, in the same way as the "three mountain gods" described in ancient books. The evil gradually overwhelmed the entire village of Hanjiang, and everyone believed that evil spirits were coming and that they would all be sacrificed and no one would be spared.
