Bags and umbrellas become bushes, buildings become monoliths and people become organisms. The birds are forced to come to terms with a world that they are not responsible for.

Made directly on film stock without the use of a camera, hand-developed and optically copied using classical techniques, the images create the appearance of natural structures and flying creatures with immersive foley effects.

Birds is a short digital choreographic piece conceived and directed by John Degois. With this piece, he attempts to transpose live performance to film. He therefore opts for a sequence shot to maintain the notion of "live," using slow motion so that the viewer has time to look wherever they want. He also breaks with perspective by not necessarily centering the main action in the middle of the image.
