The film follows five dancers on an all-white, moving set. Bags and umbrellas become bushes, buildings become monoliths and people become organisms. The birds are forced to come to terms with a world that they are not responsible for.

Made directly on film stock without the use of a camera, hand-developed and optically copied using classical techniques, the images create the appearance of natural structures and flying creatures with immersive foley effects.

Colombia is the country with the greatest diversity of birds. I recently finished the construction of my house in the countryside. At first, I saw a lot of birds, but now that some new neighbors dried up the waterfall to steal the water and others intend to build on top of it, the amount of fauna has decreased drastically. Birds is a short digital choreographic piece conceived and directed by John Degois. With this piece, he attempts to transpose live performance to film. He therefore opts for a sequence shot to maintain the notion of "live," using slow motion so that the viewer has time to look wherever they want. He also breaks with perspective by not necessarily centering the main action in the middle of the image.
