Jale, a free-spirited street vendor in her late thirties, roams around the forsaken shores of the Bosphorus. She crosses paths with heartbroken teenagers, an obnoxious admirer, exorcists, exhibitionists, fellow street sellers, fisherwomen and treasure-hunters. Like frogs gathered around a pond, they only have each other––and the timeworn, yet still glittering, Diamond Sea.

The film is about our innate and instinctive kindness before we become good persons. It relates in detail the transformation of the concept of BEING GOOD and the EVIL within that concept. It is the struggle of a humane character that has faced hardships and is now homeless. In time he also gets stuck in the ordinary concept of kindness. It tells the story of the destruction, imbalance and clashes that humaneness and conscience, kindness and wickedness cause in our lives, how they turn those lives into a black comedy.

This is an adventurous and ambitious director's story who tries to make a film in the conditions of Turkey. After the making of the film, it followed by censorship, suppression and banning... For what purpose, for what kind of reasons, for whom and why can a film be prohibited?

Crime and Punishment set in Turkey. Bilal worked as a torturer for the military regime in the 1980s that murdered Selman's sons. Selman now has a gun on Bilal in a cave. The story of 3 different generations living in the same city. Alper, his best friend Soner and his long-time girlfriend Hazan are studying at the same university. Lately the relation between Hazan and Alper do not go well. Soner supports them for the recovery of the relationship. Hakan, Barker and Serhat who are their twenties live in another district of the same city. They plan a vacation at a resort. They steal money and the car of their parents. Another generation living in this city are 12-year-old friends Mutafa and Emre. Their dream is to make programs at a radio. These three lives knotted together at some point at an unexpected time.

Upon the illness of Cevahir's grandmother Hafize; a treasure map passes by the hand of Cevahir who is trying to find enough money for the treatment. Bilal, the enemy of Cevahir, picks up the smell of the incident and takes half of the map and heads for Ayvalik. Cevahir and Ulvi fall together on Ayvalik road. They all find themselves in situations, events, and troubles that they have never expected in a journey of search for treasure and adventure.

Sinan is sent to Capadocia by his boss, Isfendiyar to write a screenplay. As he waits for inspiration, Sinan finds himself running first into Eylul, the daughter of Izzet, who owns the hotel where he's booked to stay, and then into soap opera star Faruk, his former good friend and present enemy. It isn't long before cabdriver Lokman, who declares himself Sinan's 'chauffeur' and Arif, a local farmer and horse breeder, are part of both Sinan's life and his screenplay. Although plentiful adventures among the magical fairy chimneys, colorful balloons and at the annual grape festival become like a movie for all involved, the happy ending awaited by the boss, Isfendiyar never happens. But the boss insists on his happy ending. And Sinan has to write that ending!
