Based on the play by Caryl Churchill, this film shows the Jewish journey from Russia in 1903 to Palestine in 2009. It humanizes and visualizes the progression from oppressed to oppressors whilst imploring it's audience for open conversation and empathy.

Mirka, new to the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish world, makes her way from the back of a gender-segregated bus to the front, to save her celiac son Raphael from a cookie containing gluten. This simple act constitutes a challenge to the conventions of the society in which Mirka lives and to which she tries to belong.

In the last moving episode Kati Guttman celebrates his son, who passed away twenty years ago, and also recalls for the first time his own deportation to the Nazi death camps.
