DREAM.16 took place on September 25, 2010, at Nippon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya, Japan, promoted by Fighting and Entertainment Group’s DREAM. The main event features Gegard Mousasi facing Tatsuya Mizuno in the Light Heavyweight Grand Prix final to crown the first DREAM Light Heavyweight Champion, with Mousasi coming off a submission win over Jake O’Brien and Mizuno advancing via TKO against Melvin Manhoef at DREAM.15. Other key bouts include Shinya Aoki vs. Marcus Aurelio, Jason Miller vs. Kazushi Sakuraba, and Hiroyuki Takaya vs. Chase Beebe. The event marks DREAM’s final MMA show of 2010 before Dynamite!!, featuring 10 bouts in a ring.

Strikeforce / M-1 Global - Fedor vs. Rogers was a mixed martial arts event held on November 7, 2009. It was the first MMA event on network television since the now-defunct EliteXC promotion broadcast its final event, EliteXC: Heat, on CBS on October 4, 2008. The event had a four-fight main card with a broadcasting team of Gus Johnson, Frank Shamrock and Mauro Ranallo.

The main event features the Featherweight Grand Prix semifinals, with Hiroyuki Takaya vs. Yoshiro Maeda and Hideo Tokoro vs. Abel Cullum, following their first-round wins at DREAM.7. Other key bouts include Ronaldo Souza vs. Jason Miller for the vacant DREAM Middleweight Championship, where Souza comes off a submission win over Matt Lindland and Miller advances after defeating Yushin Okami. The card also features the Super Hulk Tournament opening round with Hong Man Choi vs. Jose Canseco and Gegard Mousasi vs. Mark Hunt.

WEC 27: Marshall vs. McElfresh was the third mixed martial arts event held by the World Extreme Cagefighting under Zuffa management. The event was held on May 12, 2007. UFC lightweight fighter and future WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner was expected to make his promotional debut on this card against Richard Crunkilton, but the fight was removed from the card after Varner suffered training injuries.
