In Febuary 2026 the world's best ice hockey players will descend on Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo for the most eagerly awaited XXV Olympic Winter Games in living memory. For German national coach Harry Kreis the twelve months leading up to the final nominations of his olympic squad are equally exciting and stressful - a period plagued with difficult decisions and sleepless nights. A young team falters at the world championships, struggling under the pressure of the big stage, while older statesmen wait in the wings ready to replace them. The start of the domestic season offers a chance to impress the head coach, but the intense schedule heightens the risk of injury. Ultimately it's up to coach Kreis to make the final cut: who will play and who will be left at home?

All his life, Michael Hartung, owner of a hopelessly debt-ridden video store, has bet on the wrong horse. When an ambitious journalist confronts him with the results of his research, everything changes for the charmingly melancholy Micha. Many years ago, as an employee of the Reichsbahn, he is said to have organized the largest mass escape in the GDR. Stasi files prove the case. He was apparently even imprisoned and then deported to an open-cast lignite mine. Seduced by a lavish salary, Micha confirms the story, although only fragments of it are true.

In 2025, Chemnitz will be the European Capital of Culture. Katarina Witt embarks on a journey through her city, visiting places that are important to her and that will play a significant role in the Capital of Culture year.

In the run-up, everything actually spoke against the Chinese capital as the host of the XXIV Olympic Winter Games: Beijing is neither a winter sports region nor are human rights respected in China. The IOC obviously didn't care. Topics such as sustainability, freedom of expression and climate protection were also pushed aside. It's about power and profit instead of the Olympic idea and its values. But more and more athletes are speaking up and calling for a reform of the Olympic Games. A pioneer in this matter is ARD Olympic expert Felix Neureuther, a former alpine skier, who sucked up the Olympic spirit with his mother's milk, because his parents are alpine ski legend Rosi Mittermaier, double gold medalist at the 1976 Winter Games in Innsbruck, and father Christian, a ski racer, who took part three times at the Olympics. Based on interviews with athletes, experts, IOC officials and persecuted Uyghurs, Felix gets a glimpse behind the scenes of the Olympic system.

With two Olympic victories, four world championship titles and six European championship titles, Katarina Witt is the most successful female athlete in the history of figure skating. She combines East German identity with international flair and is still the "most beautiful face of socialism" - and the most internationally renowned citizen of the former GDR. The film follows the path of the girl from Saxony all the way to Hollywood.
