Junichi, a seasoned sound mixer, was trying to look after his dying wife. Shaken by her illness, Junichi goes out to where he and his wife had traveled to 30 years ago. In a different place, Chika and Yukko visit Yukari's home for her birthday. An exciting time for the girls alone in the house. But their friendship begins to crack when an unexpected guest arrives. Two different stories collide in an unexpected way traveling between past and present, imagination and reality.

After Japan's defeat in WWII, "Pandora no hako" follows a young man named Risuke (Shota Sometani) who has contracted tuberculosis. He travels to the countryside to a unique nursing facility to receive treatment for his disease. At the sanatorium all the patients and nurses go by nicknames and Risuke decides to reinvent himself as Hibari. During his stay, Hibari develops realationships with other patients and nurses. After Hibari's friend Tsuikushi (Yosuke Kubozuka) gets discharged from the nursing facility, Hibari writes to him about his relationships with Dakesang (Mieko Kawakami) the chief nurse and Mabo (Riisa Naka) another nurse that is bright and seems to like him.

While the wedding day should be blissful for the bride, Eiko, there is a secret that she can’t tell her fiance...

Minako is diagnosed with a brain tumor and doesn't have long to live. She wants to see her twin sister once again, but there are consequences. The twins bring out the worst in each other. Together, they are psycho-pyromaniacs and can be very destructive. There's a reason why they've been separated for 13 years, to protect themselves and those around them. A writer brings his ailing grandmother along with him on a business trip to Tokyo, where the last moments of her life help both people feel better-connected to one another.
