A Black Brazilian family in the city of Belo Horizonte, tries to rebuild their home after a recent loss. Caught between memories and nightmares, and unable to express what they feel to each other, a mother and her children shield themselves from the pain of grief through their individual routines. Only the youngest child understands the secret that the house holds within its four walls and tries to reveal it to the others, only to fall on deaf ears. Finally, confronted with the truth, they face the deep roots of their grief and come together to traverse this moment with love and courage.

Narciso is a Black orphan boy living at Carmem’s house until he is adopted. He dreams of having a family, but has had only disappointments so far. To cheer the boy up, his friend, Alexandre gifts him an old basketball, with the promise that, if he scores three baskets, a genie will appear and make his wishes come true.

Gledson is a lonely worker who left his hometown with the dream of becoming an actor in Rio de Janeiro. Tormented by vague memories of his past, he sees his life change when he begins to write a book about Teresa, a prostitute who goes through death expecting a child and ends up on a fantastic island. When a friend of Gledson decides to turn his book into a film, reality and fiction mix: while Teresa has to decide what to do with the child born on the island and the writer deals with the challenge of becoming a creator, the film changes when the director confronts the experience of her own motherhood.

In the concrete jungles of lawless futuristic Brazil, enemies spout slam poetry in duels as their movements remind us of parkour. The adrenaline rush breaks into three timelines: the past introduces teenager Riobaldo and handsome Diadorim, the present depicts a bloody clash and reveals sexual identities, and the future exposes Riobaldo’s deal with the devil.

If their existential crises, ageing and (astray) ways were not enough, Pedro announces, to everyone's surprise, he intends to take his own life — even though not before he sees his soccer team win a championship.
