Hamburg: Single Martha lovingly looks after the children in her neighborhood, supported by ex-boxer Max. One day, Tommy Skagen, who seems withdrawn, moves into Martha's apartment building with his eight-year-old brother Winnie. Tommy, who studies law during the day, often disappears at night, leaving his brother alone. Illegal mixed martial arts fights take place in the docks below St. Pauli. Here, fighters without boxing gloves or head protection compete against each other for high stakes. Tommy is one of them. He loves fighting and he needs the money. But his double life is increasingly overwhelming him.

Ex-army soldier Harald Westphal moves into a larger apartment in Berlin-Neukölln with his second wife, their child, his two younger daughters from his first marriage, his son-in-law and his granddaughter. Problems soon arise with the multicultural neighborhood.

Early in the morning, Tom Wesnik is driving home from a party with his wife Esther. At the entrance to their home village of Sarezin, they are confronted by an unsettling sight: A police roadblock blocks their way, patrol cars and fire engines line the main road, three coffins are being carried out of a house. Photojournalist Tom immediately senses a story and heads to the scene with his camera.

The married lawyer Nikolas Merz has a relationship with the Turkish Meryem, who works in his office as a cleaning lady. One day he leaves his wife Lilith for Meryem. But she is afraid that her husband Rohad would kidnap their son Baran to Turkey in the case and does not want to leave him. After Rohad has come behind the affair and threatens Nikolas, she leaves him. When Meryem miscarries and has to go to the hospital, she does not reach Nikolas and calls Rohad for help.
