His work is known for it's melancholic and brooding sound, taking inspiration from gothic rock, post-punk, and glam rock, as well as incorporating avant-garde elements such as free form improvisation and sound experimentation. He is also known as the leader of no wave post-punk group, The Shirley Temples.
