Fresh out of a psychiatric hospital, Pia moves back in with her parents to get her life together. Torn between a new job, lovesickness, psychotropic drugs and social stigmatization, she emerges into a world where everything seems out of control.

Birgit Reincke is a resolute and quick-witted investigator in her early 50s who has seemingly given up her job. She is assisted by Jonas Becker, an aggressive and impulsive rookie detective, and Marie Sonnleitner, a brilliant scientist.

The story centers on tough police officer Alex Steiner, whose brother Tommi is shot in an assassination attempt and ends up in the emergency room of the sharp-tongued young doctor Rita. While Alex tangles with a cold-blooded underground organization in his hunt for those responsible, Rita discovers that the bullet in the young man's body isn't the only reason for his condition, which is deteriorating by the minute. Alex and Rita find themselves in a race against time, and with every new clue, they get closer not only to the diagnosis and the perpetrator, but also to each other.

Rainer Berg is a frozen food delivery man who has been let down by life. He has withdrawn from the world in order to avoid emotional trauma. His outlook on life is shaken when he is assigned a new colleague, ex-hairdresser Moerer, who turns out to be a pain in the neck. "This van is too small for two!" But it's no use, Berg can only get rid of his annoying co-driver once he has turned him into a good salesman, according to the new boss. Team spirit is suddenly required from the cold-ass misanthrope Berg.

A journey into a difficult past, as Lena is not only confronted with Gottfried's rejection, but also with her former great love Anton, whom she has never been able to forget and who is now married to the enterprising and scheming Magda. But this is not the only problem: Lena discovers that her village is threatened by a landslide as a result of massive environmental destruction.
