Hélène is missing at her father’s funeral. Her brother, Vincent, refuses to allow the family to enter the house of the deceased. After the ceremony, the grandchildren of the grandpa try an improvised picnic despite the tensions and the heavy silence.

Marie-Line is juggling between odd jobs to support her agoraphobic father. Despite the precariousness of their lifestyle, she remains a lively and cheerful young woman. Yet, after a series of unfortunate events, she is fired from her job and sentenced by a judge to a small penalty. A few days later, this very judge will be in a position to help her get back on track – a chance for Marie-Line but also the beginning of an unlikely friendship.

Alice and her fellow actors are rehearsing at the country house that Tony, her husband with whom she's always breaking up, bought for her years ago. But when he unexpectedly arrives, everything is turned upside down. The garden is going to become a theater for tension, folly and thwarted love.

Jonas, a 40 something Parisian, is still desperately in love with his ex-girlfriend Léa. When he knocks on her door to confess his feelings and she turns him down, he ends up at the café downstairs. Inspiration strikes and he sits down to write her a long love letter, dodging everything he was supposed to do that day. What begins as a last attempt to get her back surprisingly turns into a vivid musing on the state of his life. Over the course of a day, helped by a wisecracking bartender and an array of patrons from the neighborhood, Jonas has to face his past relationships, his uncertain future and, most of all, himself.

Pierre and Hélène are separating and empty their flat, with a helping hand from their friends. But whilst some are breaking up, others are falling in love.
