Maddie Moore is a concierge at a hotel in Detroit, Michigan who moonlights at Detriot Free Press in their tipline department. Most nights, calls run anywhere from alien sightings to lost cats. One night, however Maddie receives a cryptic call warning for a jewelry heist.

When an eight-year-old version of herself starts appearing to her, Juniper begins to realize that her life is not what she had hoped it would be as a child. Young Junebug pushes Juniper to achieve her dreams, to start writing again, and to collaborate with the cute artist Alex to get her life back on track.
