Based on a true story. Two fighters of 'Donbas' Volunteer Battalion get locked inside city of Ilovaysk after regular Russian army enters Ukraine and shells the surrounded divisions of Ukrainian Army in the infamous would-be 'green corridor'. The fighters survive thanks to the help of the locals and manage to break out through the front line to reach the freed territory. Taras Kostanchuk who is playing himself as 'Beshoot' is that same Donbas commander who is the prototype of the story. Half of the actors and extras are real 'Donbas' volunteers who survived the battle.

This is a metaphorical story about the tragic and mysterious death of the most powerful poet of 1960s, human rights activist, hero of Ukraine Vasyl Stus and his struggle with the Soviet system. The events of the film unfold during the last attempt by the KGB to seduce the poet with a whimsical "freedom".

The action begins at a meeting in a Voronezh hospital. Doctor Tatiana Bobrova is nervous - she needs to go home, but the head doctor won't let her go until all the issues are resolved. Finally, she manages to escape. Her husband, police captain Sergei Bobrov, who holds one of the key positions in the Internal Affairs Department, is waiting for her at home. He meets her with a stream of accusations, quickly drives himself into a frenzy and beats Tatiana, neatly bypassing her face and visible parts of her body. Tatiana got married three months ago, and two weeks ago had already suffered one beating. That time he apologized, swore that it would never happen again... Even then she had already considered running away, but did not have time to prepare properly. And now Tatiana decides to escape immediately.

Industrial Soviet town in the 1970s is suffering from a cholera epidemic. Zina Shamarina, nicknamed Shamara, is a rebel-spirited woman who lives in a factory dormitory and is desperately in love with Ustin, the man who was one of the bunch that raped her years ago and then married her only to avoid prosecution. When Ustin commences an affair with the new girl in town, Shamara is challenged to regain herself and her place in this community.
