Country music has always been Black music. For Love & Country examines the genre's past through the lens of a new generation of Black artists claiming space in Nashville, and transforming country music in the process.

The special brings together a mix of live performances and conversations with some of music’s biggest stars to highlight the contributions of Black Americans through jazz, gospel, hip-hop and more.

By the time Johnny Cash released his iconic “Man in Black” album in 1971, the international superstar was broken down, hollow-eyed, and wrung out - often torn between Jesus and the “Cocaine Blues.” This tells the true story of a music legend’s spiritual quest, and his ultimate return to an “unshakeable faith.”

Popular artists, including Adam Lambert, Derek Hough, Alexander Jean, Fall Out Boy, Jimmie Allen, JoJo Siwa, Orianthi, OneRepublic and Pentatonix, perform Queen songs; Darren Criss hosts.
