One of the popular Weimar-era musical comedies not released in the US until after the Nazi takeover, this one has a Cinderella-type plot.

As a young man, mustard manufacturer Ludwig Klinke had an affair with a dancer, the “Spanish Fly”. The dancer had a son and Klinke has been secretly paying maintenance ever since. Wimmer and Tiedemeier also had a relationship with the dancer. With the appearance of the dancer's supposed son, Heinrich Meisel, chaos breaks out.

Hartwig gets by a strange coincidence confused by a prince with a certain Josef Döllinger in a luxurious restaurant. Hartwig is overjoyed, as he gets to know the dancer Garda Maro.

A scientist, Professor Jakob ten Brinken, interested in the laws of heredity, impregnates a prostitute in a laboratory with the semen of a hanged murderer. The prostitute conceives a female child who has no concept of love, whom the professor adopts. The girl, Alraune, suffers from obsessive sexuality and perverse relationships throughout her life. She learns of her unnatural origins and she avenges herself against the professor.

This 'musical burlesque' tells about a stylish young gentleman who works as a so-called 'Festredner', a person who makes speeches at important events like marriages etc. for people who don't feel able to do it themselves. Willi lends his voice to a speech-impaired professor, but the baroness who falls in love with Hörbiger only does so because of Willi's voice, and this leads to all sorts of complications…
