William Pierce (Nelson Franklin) is a practical, rational man who suddenly finds himself face to face with the paranormal when he starts receiving phone calls from the dead on the cell phone his recently-deceased fiancée (Melissa Ordway) left behind.

The story of Heidi Fleiss, known as "The Hollywood Madam", who was the daughter of a prominent Los Angeles doctor and eventually became a prostitute for a well-known Los Angeles madam. She took over her boss' operation and soon was raking in $300,000 a month by hiring only the most beautiful and highest-class hookers and catering to wealthy Hollywood types, European and American corporate executives and Arab sheiks. Her operation was broken up by Los Angeles police in 1993, and she eventually went to prison for income-tax evasion.

A withdrawn young man, Leland Fitzgerald is imprisoned for the murder of a mentally disabled boy, who also happened to be the brother of his girlfriend, Becky. As the community struggles to deal with the killing, Pearl Madison, a teacher at the prison, decides to write about Leland's case. Meanwhile, others affected by the murder, including Becky and her sister, Julie, must contend with their own problems.

For years, Charlie has been relying on two things to get through life: his trust fund and charm. When both run dry, he's forced to move into a self-storage facility with his friend, Jay, a med school dropout. Convinced that their lives will only get better if they hit rock bottom first, Charlie and Jay embark on a quest in search of the "lowest point." Only the appearance of Mel, another young resident of the storage facility, forces the guys to confront the absurdity of their mission.
