Soma Fujii

Plagued by insomnia and lethargy, Mori lets time drift aimlessly, unable to create any meaningful music, all while uneasily sharing a home with his wife, Maiko, a successful and driven photographer. When Mori and his former lover, Asako, reunite by chance and catch up, they confront different versions of the past within their own recalled memories. After they part ways, Asako comes home to a warm meal lovingly prepared by her partner, and a rekindled desire to paint again. At the same time, Mori visits Maiko’s exhibition, and discovers scenes of his own daily life, captured within her affectionate frames.

In Komatsushima, a port town in Tokushima, Shikoku, Haruka Asakura lives with her effeminate father Goro Asakura, her uncle Kentaro Asakura who is in love with a prostitute, and her cousin Manabu Kurokawa who is an aspiring singer-songwriter. Never a dull moment at the dining table, each have their own problems, yet live happy lives. All of a sudden, a tragedy falls upon Haruka, sending the family into turmoil.

Sawada's childhood was shaped by his mother's abuse. Mentally wounded, he suffered from violent bullying attacks from his classmates as a teenager. But surprisingly he gets help from Kikuchi, who is the same age and who grew up with his brutal father and has learned to compensate for his hatred with outbursts of violence. They instinctively feel drawn to each other, but instead of finding a way out together, they remain driven from their traumatic childhood. During a visit to Sawada's mother's apartment, a catastrophe breaks out and a desperate escape begins.
