Rosalie Wayne (Talmadge) meets Reginald Carter (Ford) after he introduces himself while chasing her dog with one of his oxfords, and she marries him in haste. Reggie comes down with the measles following a quarrel over her bobbed hair, not knowing he is ill she leaves for Reno and then Europe. After a year's absence and having secured her divorce, she meets Reggie again and finds him engaged to another. Jealousy arouses her to break up the match, but the wedding is progressing before she devises a means of doing so. Reggie, however, is satisfied and glad to be reunited with his Rosalie despite her sharp tongue and unusual method of winning his love.

The daughter of the former queen of a Paris gambling house impersonates her mother and reopens the establishment when she finds herself in dire need of funds.

Bedford Mills, wounded in France, meets aristocratic Helen Jessop at a party given by her father for returning war heroes in his Fifth Avenue home. Bedford falls violently in love with Helen, but discovering that he is only a poor bank clerk she insists that he must first become a man of importance. He decides that, in view of the soaring prices of shoes, he will refuse to wear shoes on the street. Causing a sensation, he is arrested and then released, but all New York reads of his exploits.

Georgiana Chadbourne is a young widow. Her dead husband was such a straight arrow that it bored her, and after a proper enough mourning period, she goes out in search of adventure. She gets in trouble for picking flowers in Central Park, but is rescued by Jack Garrison, who she mistakes for an artistic, bohemian type of character.

A woman with a gambling addiction finds that her daughter is threatened by the same tendencies.

An adventurous young girl in Florida gets herself lost in the Everglades and finds terror and excitement, as well as the rivalry of two men in love with her.

Pursued by three Indian priests after stealing “The Moonstone” a valuable diamond from the eye of an Indian idol Englishman, Hearncastle is found drowned, presumably by the Indians. Possession of the Moonstone passes to his friend Franklin Blake who presents the diamond to his fiancée. However it is stolen and suspicion falls on another girl who loves Blake particularly after she leaves a mysterious note at her suicide. Subsequently, a doctor discovers that Blake walks in his sleep and took the diamond himself while in that state, but then stolen and never recovered. At last, the thief confesses before his death with Blake and his fiancée reuniting.

The "girl" of the title was played by Hazel Dawn, a popular stage actress who briefly enjoyed a flourishing film career. Dawn plays Miss Shipley, an American girl vacationing in France. Our heroine finds herself the romantic bone of contention between two "men of the world" (William Roselle and Hal Clarendon), who end up fighting a duel over her affections.
