The action unfolds in our days, in the small Volga town of Kalinov, where nothing has changed since the days of Alexander Ostrovsky’s classical play: if any rays of light do appear in the dark empire, then they are doomed to perish quietly in the general absurdity and ignorance, or shine brightly as a token of protest against lie and tyranny. Five unusual short stories. Two heroes are fighting for the heart of a mysterious beauty in the tragicomedy Olesya. In the parable "Milk" in the high-rise kitchen a real cow appears. The heroine of the comedy without the “Not Fit” dialogues is torn between the desire to lose weight by the alumni meeting and the modern food cult. The eccentric Rita Hurricane rushes into the life of the security guard of the Leo shopping center and changes it forever. And the hero of the story "Carpe diem" solves an important question - to lie or not to lie, when everyone around is lying.

"Oh my God !!!! ... Unbelievable !!! ... I believe - Bigfoot exists. He is !!! ... He kidnapped me !!! He is good !!! ... We are going to get acquainted with his parents !!! ... I think he likes me. Vanya - Give mushrooms !!! "- that so begins an extraordinary video footage recorded by the camera, which accidentally found in the woods by hunters. What is it - a sensation? Russian King Kong? Maybe poignant love story? Six months ago, somewhere in the Urals, in the taiga, lost television journalism Larisa Debomonova. Where is it - nobody knows. Let's inspection before the end of the hour and a half plot. Perhaps we will learn what happened to her.

Short stories that seem to be absolutely different, none of the main characters is connected with the other one, each following story is totally unlike the previous one. Only in the end of the film the viewer gets the clear explanation of the neighborhood of the described destinies and the connection between the characters.

This is a modern story of a prosperous family, in whose harmonious way of life a young man, a former partner of her husband in creating a computer network, breaks into. Involving his wife in a love affair, he pretends to be a messenger from Shambhala. At some point, she is ready to believe him, despite her husband's convictions that her chosen one is crazy. The psychologically tense action is set off by episodes of the hero's fantasies, in which the intrigue is given a comic effect, so there is no reason to assume a tragic ending.

Gera, a respected director of TV commercials, thinks he's capable of creating a fiction movie masterpiece. Predictably, he ends up with owning money to a mafia and no film to show for. To make his life even crazier he falls in love with a girl who belongs to the boss of mafia.

Andrei's ex-girlfriend Tania (Anzhela Belyanskaya) has been constantly in danger of going to jail since he knew her. Their breakup was not his doing, and he is determined to keep her out of jail. Andrei (Oleg Menshikov) has a notion that, if he can raise enough money, he can smuggle her out of Russia into New York, where all will be well. While Andrei's grasp on reality may be tenuous, his ability to maneuver and scheme is unimpaired. He is a student filmmaker, and the kind of money he needs to save Tania with doesn't grow on trees. He begins raising funds by mugging men at public toilets, and graduates to stealing the drug money accumulated by more serious gangsters. After he has raised the money to accomplish his goal, his girl, the light of his life, confesses that she despises him, and then goes out and gets arrested.
