The documentary reports on the most important stages of Thomas Müntzer's life, from his birthplace in Stolberg to his place of death in the Heldrungen fortress. The film looks at the preacher, his fight against social grievances, the German Peasants' War, the preservation of monuments in the GDR and Müntzer's legacy today.

The documentary portrays the art historian Wilhelm von Bode as a realistic visionary.

The first part of the film explains human reproduction, the female and male organs and bodily functions. In the second part, the problem of the increase in sexually transmitted diseases in the context of free sexual contact is mentioned and symptoms are explained. In addition to real film scenes, the commentary film contains microscopic shots, cultural-historical depictions and animated drawings. A life story from a bygone era. In a retirement home, the 90-year-old Hermann Reußner tells his story. He was born in 1891 in Dessau, back when a duke still reigned there. As a soldier under the German emperor, he participated in World War I. Reußner talks about his beginnings as a cook in the famous hotel Adlon at the Pariser Platz in Berlin. Later, he was head chef there for 30 years. This private life story gets impressively illustrated with photos and film footage.

The film outlines the life of this revolutionary leader of the German and international working-class movement.

With the young Friedrich Engel’s letters and drawings from the years between 1838 and 1842, a unique cinematic portrait is created. The viewer thus gets to know the young Engels personally, learning about the significant moments of his development from a bourgeois-liberal upbringing to the theoretical partner of Karl Marx. Later be awarded the Gold Dove at the International Leipzig Documentary and Short Film Week.
