This mellow comedy is the third entry in filmmaker Anja Breien's "Wives" series and stars the same three actresses who appeared in the first two. This episodic film begins with flashbacks to the 1975 film Wives and scenes from 1985's Wives: Ten Years Later. Now ten more years have passed and they are comfortably ensconced in middle age. They have gathered to hold a surprise birthday for Kaja aboard an Oslo streetcar. The three haven't seen each other in ages and much of the story focuses on their discussions of their disparate lives. Every word, smile and tear they share affirms the depth of their lasting friendship.

A deckhand, Rolf Just Nilsen, is mistaken for pop singer Dickie Dons, also played by Rolf Just Nilsen, aboard the car ferry from Kiel to Oslo. The deckhand quickly settles into his new role and enjoys drinking champagne with the captain. However, things become more difficult as time goes on – not least because Dickie Dons turns out to be secretly married to his secretary.

Oslo family the Monsens recieve uncle Pavel's house on the south coast of Norway after his passing. Mr. Monsen is also under the assumption that he has won 5000NOK in the lottery, though things are not as they seem. On an old record, the little girls hear uncle Pavel tell the story of a lost treasure buried somewhere in the house, but to find its location, one must solve 4 riddles.

Lieutenant Colonel Brusefjær, a highly regarded "administrative officer" from his time in London, is a man with a keen eye for everything that goes on around him, especially suspicious individuals. But now he wants to relax, and together with his grandson Lille-Bertram and his caretaker Ole Gliset, he mans the houseboat Caroline 11 and travels to Hankø. The police have just received alarming reports of widespread smuggling – probably based in the outer Oslo Fjord – and a trusted investigator, Reidar Nissen, is sent on vacation to Hankø.

Good old Uncle Anders has a twin brother in the United States. He called Sofus, and now he comes home to celebrate 70th birthday. He was a troublemaker when he left and now he has become even worse

Brit's parents are divorced and she lives with her mother in Oslo. Brit loves composing, and her mother wants to keep her away from that.
