Robert and Max need their friend Jan in order to function in life. But after having his life's work ruined during a disastrous book release, Jan has now fallen into a deep depression and can't help anyone anymore. Robert and Max now need to travel across the country to find a way to retrieve Jan's book and his will to live.

But "Dunderpumpen", as he calles the invention, turns out to be stronger than anyone had imagined, and when shady Scanian oil magnates with support of the Swedish government wants their share of the pie Knohult declares themselves a republic...

A dead body is found, and police detective Mårten Späck draws the conclusion that a serial suicide killer is at large. Späck with his colleagues Grünvald Karlsson and Irene Snusk suspect a gang who distributes pirated DVDs of 'bottom-of-the-barrel' Swedish movies.
