Bill Bronson is a likable young bank clerk, whose congenital thirst for liquor is kept under control until he joins his wife Mary at getting blotto at a company party. From there it is a downward spiral.

This brings her into conflict with the physician, whom she loves, but her faith in the power of will and her beauty of character finally teach him that faith is at least an important adjunct to medicine.

While on a train trip, Mary Ryan runs into her old friend Jane Loomis. Mary was once a professional thief but is now reformed. Jane tells her that her uncle, Judge Loomis, has invited her to live with he and his family, but that she is planning to elope with her boyfriend instead. When the train arrives at the town where Judge Looms lives, Mary gets off and passes herself off as Jane. Complications ensue.
