The sinking of the Titanic is presented in a highly realistic fashion in this tense British drama. The disaster is portrayed largely from the perspective of the ocean liner's second officer, Charles Lightoller. Despite numerous warnings about ice, the ship sails on, with Capt. Edward John Smith keeping it going at a steady clip. When the doomed vessel finally hits an iceberg, the crew and passengers discover that they lack enough lifeboats, and tragedy follows.

Sam, a sheep-driver, arranges a village concert to raise funds for a seaside restaurant, and saves a young girl who is carried out to sea by the current and is stranded on Devil's Rock.

A through-the-years story with songs and sentiments. A sailor rises from first officer to captain, gets married and has a son, but loses his command when his ship is rammed and the vessel is abandoned to save passengers. For years he lives in the countryside. Then his son, now grown, contacts his father's old shipmates and eventually their ship is put back into commission with its old skipper in command.

A puritanical woman tries to enforce her rigid views on her Irish home village, Ballytober. She forms the wholesome Uplift League in the village in an attempt to persuade people to reform and accept higher moral standards.

An Irish-born businessman based in London is kidnapped by colleagues as a joke and flown back to the small village of his birth. There he finds that American gangsters are forcing the local publicans to buy illegally-produced raw spirit with which to adulterate branded products.

An English spy goes to Jacobite Scotland and falls for the daughter of the family he is staying with. She laments his nationality yet he eventually rescues her from death and they ride off together as lovers. The first Scottish sound film.
