Ursus is a story of three outcasts—Georgian unemployed film director, Ukrainian ex-stuntman and a Canadian female fighter for the wild animals' rights—making their desperate journey from Tbilisi, the capital of ex-Soviet Georgia plunged into a civil war, to Berlin at the beginning of 1992. Each of the three characters pursues their own goal without even knowing how much their fates are intertwined.

In this chaos the main character, an actress fallen on hard times, wants to preserve her social status with every available means. She claims to be a Communist activist and, in order to gain access to the theater even shows a photo with the Bulgarian communist revolutionary Georgi Dimitrov's dog However, in order to survive, she has to resort to betrayal.

Little Tony does not have a father, but her mother is just an obstacle. The child often stays outside the locked door while the mother has fun with another guest. Tony wanders in the streets or walks to Pipe doll artist's studio. Here the girl is immersed in a fairy-tale world, very different from the one around her. But Fipo has his own life and problems. Tony is not mad at her mother, loves her and wants to live with her. But for neighboring children, Tony is a bad example. Their parents are doing their best to put her in a boarding school without being interested in her opinion. Is this better for the little girl?

A girl walks out as if of Pandora's Box to foretell the drama humankind is to face, paying for all sins, we have been piling up through the ages. A number of directors being parodied take turns to show their take on this drama and relate it to modern life. Getting tangled up in the opposition between the eternal and transient, the base and the sublime, it all turns into a cocktail of an absurd and profound poignancy.
