Aya Takeko

A young man, involved with a gang of hoodlum exploiting vulnerable elderly men to steal their retirement money, experiences social disenchantment, alienation and confusion mostly due to a lack of dreams and fulfillment of ambition.

All of a sudden, the city is empty with people. Detective Hideyuki Matsunaga is investigating a kidnapping case. Hideyuki's wife Eri is expecting a baby, but right after the delivery, the baby is kidnapped. For the sake of his baby, Hideyuki desperately tries to recover his broken relation with his wife, but he cannot get a clue. He starts thinking the baby was spirited away by a ghost. He is seized with fear. He looks up to the sky, there is an unearthly aurora swaying to and fro.

Terako is a young woman without a job. She has an affair with Iwanaga who is married. His wife is in a coma. One day, Terako's friend kills herself. After that, Terako sleeps all day long and wakes up only when Iwanaga calls her.

When Kanako, a model daughter and a brilliant student, disappears, her mother asks her ex-husband, a violent former policeman, to find her. As his investigation progresses, his idealized image of Kanako cracks: the girl hides a dark life that her father can not even imagine.
