Determined to move on with their life violently interrupted by war several years ago, an elderly couple returns to their restored home. We follow their everyday life through the four seasons. Every day She becomes more absent and lost. Instead of helping her, He acts brutishly, sometimes even cruelly, towards his wife. However, the realization that something is wrong with Her will make Him question his behavior and values.

After their son has been beaten up in the street, parents find their world of false security collapsing and have to re-examine their lives and question everything into what they believed.

Socialist Croatia, sometime during the 1980s. After he's accused of a crime he didn't commit, Martin is sent to a high-security state prison where he accidentally becomes a target of a violent gang.

In Autumn of 1991, a Croatian soldier looses his wife and home to Serbian forces. Panicked, he grabs his daughter and, with nowhere else left to go, they leave for Zagreb, hoping to find shelter there. But, it turns out the streets of the war torn capitol are not much more safe nor pleasant than the village they had to leave behind.

Vojvodina, 1991. A Croatian civilian POW named Ivan manages to escape a Serbian prison camp. Finding nowhere else to go, he spends the night on a seemingly wealthy plot of land. The next morning, he's discovered by its owner, a Serb named Stevan, who offers him two choices. Either Ivan stays and does Stevan's dirty work, or he surrenders him to Serbian paramilitary authorities. During his stay he meets Ana, Stevan's daughter-in-law, whose trapped in a loveless marriage with his violent son Dušan, whose currently situated on the frontlines somewhere in Croatia. Finding company in each other's sorrow, the two Croats slowly begin to fall in love.
