After the revolution of December 1989, Romania is in full transition. Incertainty and chaos have followed Ceausescu's downfall. Fane, a worker in a wharf on the river Danube, is a former dissident who was in involved in politically motivated uprisings. Now that he has achieved what he has fought for, he is unemployed and everything around him seems to fall to pieces. His whole family falls victim to the changes of the early 90s. His daughter prostitutes herself, his elder son ends up in prison and his younger son becomes a thief.

After their marriage, a young couple are astonished to find their privacy invaded by strangers through an absurd order from the Housing Authority. The state institution orders the newlyweds to cede a room in their apartment to an unknown person. And the only solution to use their home as they please is... divorce. But in court battles, divorce takes on dimensions no one expected...

In the 1950s, a party activist travels to rural Transylvania to collec collectivize village farms. A wealthy householder resists attempts to make him give up his wealth, refusing to be brought down to the level of those who have never worked. The concept of collectivization is summed up by an indignant villager who, forced to work the land he no longer owns, bombards the party activist who claims that the land is still his: "You cut off my p..., put it in my hand and said, 'take it, it's still yours'.

In this allegorical fairy-tale, peaceful and warlike knights vie for the hand of a beautiful princess, while a discussion of disco goes on around them. She favors a peaceful knight, while her father and his advisors like the ones carrying around a lot of weapons.

Following the intervention of his mother, Barbara ( Tamara Buciuceanu-baptism ), the young Ionut ( Horatiu ), a graduate student at the Faculty of Agronomy, is assigned to perform summer practice Viişoara village. His parents, Barbara and Toderaş ( Dem Radulescu ) waits at the train station in Pogoanele fanfare announced the day of arrival, but the young man down from Mocăniţă the previous station and walk over the hills, through the Aries River and through the woods. He enters the village astride the colt Valjean, causing laughter villagers and shame to his mother.

Victor, an incisive journalist, discovers a series of irregularities in a State farming enterprise. His investigations will unmask the fraud committed by the person in charge of the wine section, called Bachus. Although aided by an impressive number of cronies, Bachus will not be able to hide forever infamous secret.

In a Transylvanian village, a pastor tries to convert a local peasant to his religion, for personal interests.

A local Romanian chieftain in 16th century Transylvania discovers a great treasure of Decebalus. He decides to send it for safekeeping in Moldavia, but he has to evade the Transylvanian prince and the king of Hungary, who get wind of it and want it for themselves.

The movie describes the life of a former circus artist who earns his living from the presentation in villages and towns of a sensational number entitled "Sword Swallower".

Some party representatives want to make a new football team.
