Jakob Sesam is the once successful creator of the children's TV series Hello Spencer. Twenty years after the last episode, he lives with his puppets in a dilapidated discotheque, but now this last refuge is also in danger of disappearing. Sesame and his puppets have only one chance left: they must quickly raise 10 million to stop the demolition excavators.

Every year a group of humorists get together to tell each other the best jokes of the year and to complain about their existence as freelance joke tellers. But this year is something different. One day, robot Robby enters into a life of the most creative little boy, Toby. Robby had been separated from his robot parents when his spaceship crashed. Toby decides to offer his help and the two of them become friends.
