A filmmaker finds creative freedom more elusive than he imagined in this ironic comedy-drama. Tired of the state-appointed producers and censorship in his homeland, Soviet Georgia, Niko decides to move to France, only to find that he has merely traded one type of interference for another.

A group of teenage boys from Tbilisi take a trip to Azerbaijan to buy drugs, and end up fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh War, when they are captured by Azerbaijani militants, with one subsequently being captured by the Armenians. During the course of events, the main character has flashbacks to his relationship with his father, as well as a depressive prostitute.

The film depicts episodes from Galaktion Tabidze's dramatic, contradictory life.

The shepherd boy Besame is lucky, with the help of the old maestro he becomes a student at the conservatory and begins to learn to play the flute. But the governor and other envious people lock Besame in a correctional cell to learn the ruthless rules of life. Here he is tortured, deprived of music, accustomed to money, and turned into a strong animal. Besame's metamorphosis frightens even the bullies, but the maestro saves the young man again - the sound of the flute washes away all the filth from Besame, returning love and freedom.

And, of course, the reason for their gathering was the same: how to protect the city from a natural disaster?

In the southern region of Georgia, in ancient Meskheti, a young man, Giorgi Toreli, is appointed as the secretary of the Raikom. He aims at the revival of his native region and for this he begins to fight against bureaucracy, autocracy, corruption, prevailing inertia.

A sad story about a day in the life of an old captain, now retired. The sadness of this story is softened by a noble dose of humor. It is built on the discrepancy between a quiet life with its small, retirement joys, worries, and the inertia of the old captain's still vivid imagination. Each collision of dream and reality evokes both a slight pain and a smile of understanding. With the help of subtle, unobtrusive details, the director has managed to create the impression of a life that is passing away, sailing away, saying goodbye.

Nodar, the man with a fickle character, leaves his wife and children in the village and goes to Kutaisi in search of his fortune. His friend Givi advises Nodar to return to his family, but Nodar wants to live in the city and will start working as a manager of a car factory dancer's circle.
