Elena Meshcheryakova is a veterinarian at an animal clinic. One day, she spots a stranger in a crowd who leaves an unforgettable impression on her. But how can she gather the courage to simply approach him and introduce herself? Fate intervenes when he shows up at the clinic, wanting to get rid of his dog. Elena refuses to put the poor animal down and instead takes it in herself. As events unfold, Elena ends up in a hospital where the head psychiatrist happens to be a friend of the man she fell for. It is he who ultimately helps her find happiness.

Based on the play by Oleg Perekalin “I Demand a Court.” The organizers of constant fraud and theft in the suburban village of Kantirovka are Metel and brigadier Sanin, members of a gangster group at the regional level. 1925. José Raúl Capablanca, a famous Cuban chess player and employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, arrives in Moscow for an international chess tournament. The trip, taking place under Machado's dictatorship, casts doubt on his future in this position. The film shows Capablanca's dramatic matches with Lasker, Tartakower, and Bogolubov, his tragic love for Bolshoi Theatre ballerina Sasha Mozhaeva, and a simultaneous game in which he lost to the very young Mikhail Botvinnik.

The old forester dies in a fight with poachers, and his faithful friend, the lynx Kunak, goes into the taiga. The new forester Drozdov wants to bring Kunak back and patiently accustoms the lynx to himself.

A.N. Ostrovsky recalls the first period of his creative work (1849–1859), when he began collaborating with the Maly Theatre and with masters of the Russian stage such as L.P. Kositskaya, M.S. Shchepkin, and P.M. Sadovsky. Almost every character in this film is a real historical figure.

The film takes place in pre-Christian Russia, when Ratibor united the East Slavs into one army against the nomadic Khazars.

In the center of the film is the image of a young officer Andrei Kiselyov, the commander of the acoustics of the anti-submarine ship "Dexterous".

Only the old men and the young Baranov family remained in the village of Martyamovo.
