The plot is based on a story about the difficult life in a forgotten village that suffered from the Chernobyl accident. But people work, joke, live without fear, hope and wait. The beautiful Franka, the daughter of a Polish official, marries a peasant Pavel and cannot accept her happy fate: before her marriage, she had to be a laundress in rich houses and a prostitute. And now Franka's restless soul longs for repentance.

A provincial pharmacist moves to the capital, leaving behind her husband and child. But the big city isn’t eager to grant her success and fame. Instead, it takes advantage of her kindness and sincerity — and, like many before her, it will eventually cast her aside...

Three boys and a girl go to another city to search for the father of one of them in order to get money from him as compensation for leaving the family. On the way they meet the homeless man Petrovich, and this meeting makes them think about many things.
