Nick Van Alstyne owns the Henrietta silver mine and is very rich and his son Bertie is naive and spoiled. His daughter Rose is married to shady investor Mark. Mark wrecks Bertie's wedding plans by making him take the blame for Mark's illegitimate daughter, and also nearly ruins the family business by selling off some stock at too low a price.

Two small-time criminals, Bill and Sam, kidnap a wealthy man's ten-year-old son, Johnny, to hold for ransom. Their plan backfires when the boy, who enjoys the kidnapping, becomes so unbearable and difficult that the men end up paying his father to take him back.

Not being able to afford fine stockings, a young artist paints his wife's legs to create the illusion for her dance performance in a cabaret. It works so successfully that other women want to follow her example, which leads to several fights with angry husbands and lovers.

After her boss sexually harasses her and has an affair with her sister, stenographer Janet Butler quits to support a mill workers' strike, falls in love with a stockholder named Brooks Insall, witnesses her mother shoot the boss during the strike, is wrongly imprisoned but exonerated by Insall, and ultimately enjoys a happy future with him, her recovered mother, and her sister Elsie.

Tempest goes out on a search for a young man who wronged a girl friend. She captures the wrong fellow, but the real one shows up and marries the girl. Ninth in the Spurs and Saddles series of two-reel Westerns.

Millionaire meat packer Peter Cameron, greedy for more money and power, maneuvers an alliance between his daughter Rose and George Gray, the son of Cameron's business rival Max Gray, in order to increase his control of the food industry. George, a lawyer, opposes the trust, and as a result is professionally ruined by Cameron, disinherited by his father, and jilted by his fiancée. Out on his own, George gets a job at a mill and starts at the bottom. When an epidemic breaks out among his fellow laborers due to their eating spoiled meat from the trust, George secures evidence of criminal practices which ultimately brings about the conviction of Cameron and the trust. In championing the rights of the downtrodden, George wins back Rose and reforms Cameron.

To further his political ends and enrich himself, a political boss lets corruption run rampant in his city. A young couple sets out to expose him. This film is partially lost; only 34 minutes of 70 survive.
