The true story of a high-school history teacher who decides to hide a progressive sight loss from everyone surrounding him - his colleagues, pupils, even the ones who really care about him, because of the fear of losing his job and trying to save his dignity. Due to a genetic disorder, Kacper is faced with a very real possibility of permanent blindness. Initially heartbroken, he attempts to hide his health problems from his bosses driven by his desire to keep his job and to help his students with the final exams. The only person who knows about Kacper's problem is his best friend Wiktor. Meanwhile, Kacper enters a relationship with his colleague Ewa, and tries to help a rebel student Klara, who hides a secret of her own.

A provincial police unit raids a forest moonshine operation but is ambushed, leaving one officer wounded and the bootlegger at large, while simultaneously a young woman’s body is found drifting on a lake. Pregnant Sub-Inspector Iza Dereń juggles these intertwined investigations, helped by her junior colleague Marzec, just as two fellow officers, including her partner, vanish.

Nina's Journey is shot in Warsaw, with Polish actors. But it is narrated by the elderly Nina Einhorn herself.

During the "winter of the century," impatient passengers wait for the train to arrive at the station in Koluszki. Railway communications are disrupted. At the same time, a train is stuck in snowdrifts near Koluszki. The atmosphere in its carriages is cheerful. Some passengers, who are in a hurry to connect to other stations, get off and walk to the station in Koluszki. Among them is Andrzej Roszak, a young man rushing to Warsaw, and probably his peer Basia. Shortly after them, Mr. Walerek, a political activist who was on his way to a ball at the Central Committee, Mr. Rozbicki and his wife, who had just returned from a contract in Iraq, Matyjak, a television star, journalist Przoniak, and others arrive at the station in Koluszki. At the deserted station, the passengers efficiently organize a New Year's Eve party. During the revelry, the participants gradually reveal their hidden complexes, frustrations, and hopes.
