It's been five years Martin's family vanished without a trace from a cruise ship. Ever since, the police psychologist is tortured by the thought of his wife having committed a murder-suicide, taking their son with her. He is the only one not willing to believe this. Suddenly, a new lead takes him back aboard the very same luxury cruiser, where once again, a mother and her child have vanished. But this time, the girl reappears - holding a teddy bear that used to belong to Martin's son. Martin soon learns that things are handled differently on the open sea. Not to disturb his passengers' enjoyment of the lavish luxuries of their cruise, the rich owner of the cruiser wants to keep the child out of sight and hides her deep under deck in the quarantine bay. Here, Martin tries to get the traumatized girl to talk to him. But even deeper in the dark underbelly of the ship there is something lurking. And all signs point to a serial killer, just waiting to strike again.

Berlin widower Paul Krüger, a retired ex-GDR stone mason (66), hates foreigner immigrants, especially Muslims. When his beloved, doting granddaughter Annie plans to marry Deniz, an ambitious student and waiter in Ankara who needs a visa for Germany, backward Paul and his buddy, publican Karin, go on Turkish 'holiday' so he can talk her out of it. But Deniz proves her only choice and probably a right one, even if countrymen and family win Paul's heart, as well as a resourceful preteen-thief, who proves an orphaned Syrian refugee. Paul even promises to plead with his counterpart, Deniz's family patriarch, who opposes him marrying a Christian infidel at pain of expulsion from the close clan.

Kickboxer Dennis' heart beats for his brother Wulf's girlfriend. But as long as he is in prison, Dennis dutifully keeps his hands off Tanja. When Wulf is released, his bride wants nothing more to do with him. She now loves Dennis. Wulf senses betrayal. He hires pimp Lara as a thug and also persuades Dennis to take on this dubious job. Meanwhile, his only thought is revenge.

Robert, a 13-year-old German boy, sets out to try and find his father, who's in Turkmenistan. On his arrival there he meets up with a local boy who agrees to help him, but they are abandoned by their adult guides and must fend for themselves.
