1950, the extensive network of sewers beneath the city of Berlin. This cesspool underworld, whose sewers led from the eastern to the western part of the city and vice versa, had become the main transshipment point for a gang of criminals for their hot goods. It's a dirty business, but anyone who dared to disrupt or stop it could expect to disappear into the sewer system forever. But detective Steffens and his colleague Rödel are on the trail of the cold-blooded criminals and do everything they can to put a stop to them and put them behind bars.

Vera Urban is on a ski holiday with her children. Her two admirers - the sailor Winter and Savings Bank leader Martin - travel enthusiastically in the snow to finally conquer the heart of their worshiped in a relaxed holiday atmosphere. Sunny is the singer of band trying to establish itself in the music-scene of East-Berlin. They play regular gigs in small towns, but Sunny feels out of touch with the audience and her life as a whole. She begins a relationship with the amateur saxophonist and studied philosopher Ralph who writes her a very personal song - but his obsession with death and unfaithful lifestyle is not for her. After getting into a quarrel with a band member who harasses her and telling off a show-host she is thrown out of the band. Abandoned, she struggles to regain control over her life.

The wrenching story of a woman sentenced in 1934 to ten years in prison for antifascist activities. The love between her and her fiancée enables her to survive the tribulations of her time in prison, where she is one of few political prisoners.

A senior professor is kidnapped in the park by residents of a veterans home. Once there, he is asked to invent a "rejuvenating machine" to restore their youth.

Berlin, end of the 1920s. Young factory workers Hete and Paul are expecting a child. When first Paul and then Hete become unemployed, the two look for ways to terminate the pregnancy. Hete goes to a doctor, but he refuses to give her the necessary document for the abortion. As a result, Hete and Paul want to carry out the abortion themselves, using a stolen instrument. Fearing for Hete, Paul aborts the attempt. So Hete turns to an illegal abortionist, who sends the feverish girl away with a bottle of cyanide, which is supposed to help in small doses. Hete goes to her mother, who takes care of her and also gives her the cyanide drops. But Hete exceeds the dose.
