In 1989, Jenny Ecker, an 18-year-old daughter of an entrepreneur, flees from Hildesheim to the east - out of love. The teenager has fallen hopelessly in love with an East Berliner. Jenny’s parents are foaming from wrath and offer a reward: One-hundred thousand, later even a million, deutschmarks for whoever brings them their daughter back. The prospect of so much money gets east and west into quite a disarray – and in the end, the Wall really falls.

Karl is a simple farmer who takes a plane to Ibiza to finally meet his idol, pop-singer Linda Lou. Karl has long ago fallen in love with his idol and has written her numerous love letters, But a farmer like Karl is not the kind of man she could be interested in. At the same time however, a famous millionaire, who happens to look just like Karl, is staying on the island

The musician Udo Lindenberg (played by himself) is kidnapped during the party after a concert. Nobody realises this until the next day, when he doesn't show up in time for a rehearsal. Since the police believes this is only a promotion gag, private eye Kuhlmann (also played by Udo Lindenberg) has to be hired to find him in time.
