
Magdalena Zawadzka-Holoubek (born October 29, 1944) is a Polish stage and film actress. She is the wife of actor Gustaw Holoubek and the mother of cinematographer Jan Holoubek. She gained wide popularity after the 1968 film Colonel Wolodyjowski (Pan Wołodyjowski), in which she played the role of Basia Wołodyjowska.

A rebellious audio engineering student is detained by the police for brandishing a firearm at the university. Her scientific career hangs in the balance, but Kasia gets one last chance from her supervisor. However, the conditions set by her professor for remaining at the university seem absurd.

In late 1950s Poland, jazzman Fabian returns from England and forms a swing big band that quickly rises to fame. Polish businessman Jarek Branicki organizes a beauty pageant. As the man in charge, he expects his girlfriend to win it and suggests this outcome to the judges. At the same time, however, he is on the verge of bankruptcy and tries to escape the country after being cornered by his creditors. Recognized by a passenger on the train, he flees and finds refuge in the underground passages of Warsaw’s central railway station.

Jacek, a young violinist, falls in love with reciprocity with the cellist Ania. Ania's mother is against this relationship. So she sends Jacek to Cracow to get an antique violin. In the meantime, he and Ania go to New York. Jacek returns to Warsaw as soon as possible. However, the last train from Krakow has already left. On the platform, however, he meets people who are going to Katowice, from where the fastest train to Warsaw leaves. On the train, Jacek meets miners who are going to Warsaw to protest. He accidentally gets soiled with coal, which causes airport security to take him for one of the protesting miners who want to plant a bomb on the plane. Jacek runs onto the runway, but on the stairs to the plane is hit by anti-terrorists trying to prevent the alleged bombing.

After discussions with Schwartz, a producer from the West, screenwriter Stefan comes back to Poland. Everybody reminds him of his previous success: “The Flame”. The tired protagonist goes back to his wife, actress Ewa, who is eagerly awaiting him. Ewa goes to an audition which doesn’t turn out too well. On the next day, Stefan and his collaborators are wondering what to write a scenario about. Meanwhile, Stefan has a tooth ache. He decides to visit a dentist but is scared away by the price he has to pay for the treatment. Stefan still can’t find an idea for a scenario, and Ewa is not being cast. They decide to sell the car, but a man who takes their car out for a test drive doesn’t return. Stefan is changing ideas for the scenario constantly, he can’t make up his mind… at home, a pipe goes off… the wine he keeps in gallons blows up… the milicia (People’s Republic of Poland’s police) comes and general chaos ensues, as they are drowning in water and wine… which gives Stefan an idea…
